ShellGuard SSH Client provides the user with secure login connections over
unknown or untrusted networks, authenticates server and encrypts traffic between
the client and server. ShellGuard is a command line program and consists of three
integrated components:
- Secure Copy provides a secure method for file transfers over
insecure networks.
- Key Generation allows to generate and manage RSA/DSA keys for the
Public Key authentication.
- Port Forwarding enables secure tunneling of Internet protocol services like email and
web browsing.
All traffic is encrypted using strong encryption: AES, 3DES, Blowfish, CAST or other.
Public key or password based user authentication.
SSH features
- Protocols: SSH2 and SSH1 version supported.
- Encryption ciphers: TripleDes (3DES), BlowFish, ArcFour,
CAST128, AES (128, 192, 256), DES and other.
- Encrypted data compression: available from level 1 (low CPU usage) to
level 9 (best compression size).
- User authentication: encrypted password, DSA or RSA public keys.
- Key generation: built-in utility to create public and private keys.
- Maximum key length: up to 4096 bit RSA or DSA keys for stronger encryption.
- Port forwarding: forward local application TCP/IP port to SSH server
for secure data traffic.
- Secure file transfer: built-in scp utility copies files using SSH2
protocol.
Terminal emulation features
- Terminal capability: industry standard Termcap support. It includes VT100,
VT102, VT220, ANSI, SCO ANSI, xterm, Windows 2000, Linux and other terminals
support with own color attributes and VT line drawing characters.
- National character set: configurable incoming and outgoing translation tables.
Session features
- ShellGuard platforms: Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000/XP.
- Server platforms: UNIX (Solaris, AIX, etc), Linux, VMS, Windows and all other, which
support SSH or Telnet connections.
- Generic proxy: SOCKS5 for both SSH and Telnet sessions.
- Serial port connection supported.
- Keep alive: allow persistent connections by sending anti-idle
codes.
- Log file: write full session history to log file or printer.
- Session management: use customized parameters for each named session.
- Session statistic: display page with details about established
connections.
User interface features
- Full screen mode: switch between windowed and full-screen mode.
- Multiple sessions: connect to multiple hosts or have multiple
sessions with a single host. Up to 12 consoles.
- Quick session switch: change current console with shortcut key.
- Scrollback buffer: store each session history for many thousands of
lines.
- Clipboard Cut-and-Paste: mouse driven cut-and-paste feature, as
well as keyboard.
- Lock console: use typed passphrase to lock and unlock application.
- Case insensitive: for all values in configuration file excluding passwords and
file names.
Customisation features
- Define terminal: configure terminal via standart Termcap file.
- Set display size: configurable rows and columns for application
display.
- Defined output colors: redefine foreground and background colors
setup for terminal output and mouse selection.
- Both "Alt" keys support: for specific keyboard layouts.
- Command line options: define startup behavior for configuration file,
host, scp client and other settings.
